Role Playing in the Mojave Desert

29PalmsThe Tatitlek Corporation is serving its country and shareholders in a unique way in an unlikely location. Twentynine Palms, California—deep in the heat and heart of the Mojave Desert—is home to the world's largest U.S. Marine Corps base. As the premier training facility for Marine operations, the base receives military personnel from around the world for Combined Arms Exercises training. Each year, nearly one-third of the Fleet Marine Force and Marine Reserve units—approximately 50,000 Marines—participate in the base's training exercise programs.

The Tatitlek Corporation has been supporting these exercises at Twentynine Palms since April 2006, providing Foreign Language Speakers (FLS) and Civilians on the Battlefield (COB), culture and language training, and realistic special effects.

From a registered pool of several thousand foreign language speakers—who are employees, not independent contractors—Tatitlek routinely supplies up to 400 thoroughly-screened and vetted role players to support a variety of intensive training exercises. These role players, the majority of whom are originally from the intended theater of operations, provide the realistic, “live” contact that is the unique and crucial element of this training. Other role players—actors who are actual amputees—portray bloodied attack victims. The result is extraordinarily authentic and powerful pre-deployment training that replicates what deployed Marines will face when they arrive in their assigned theater of operations. In fact, the current training, which prepares Marines for deployment to Iraq, is so realistic that it recently garnered national exposure through a Fox News Channel report viewable on the Media Library page. Additionally, Tatitlek’s contribution to the effort was highlighted in an exclusive article published in the October, 2007, issue of the "Alaska Business Monthly" magazine. See Media Library for full article.

Tatitlek currently provides similar role play services for the U.S. Army at Ft. Bliss and Ft. Hunter Liggett, and has provided these services at Ft. Hood, Ft. McCoy, Ft. Bragg, and Ft. Indiantown Gap.
